SnapSlice
Privacy
Updated October 7, 2026
Your receipts are yours. No bank logins, and we don't sell your data.
What we keep
Only your email and the receipts you scan. We do not collect bank, card or store-account logins, your location, your contacts, or anything else on your phone.
How it's used
Only to run SnapSlice for you: reading receipts, showing your spending, and syncing your devices. We don't show ads, and we don't sell your data. Some receipts show things like medicine; that stays between you and the app.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts the app and stores your data.
- Anthropic (Claude) reads your photos. It doesn't use them to train AI.
- Resend sends your sign-in emails.
You're in control
Download or delete anything from Settings. Deleting your account removes everything from our servers.

Full Privacy Policy
The summary above is a plain-language overview. The full policy below is what applies.
1. Who we are
SnapSlice (snapslice.app, "SnapSlice", "we", "us") is responsible for the personal data described here (its "controller"). You can reach us at support@snapslice.app.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, when you created your account and last signed in, and when you accepted our Terms and this policy.
- Receipts: the photos you take or upload, and the details read from them (store, date, items, prices, item numbers, categories, taxes and totals). A photo can also show anything else printed on the receipt, such as a store address or the last digits of a payment card. We don't extract or use that information.
- Shelf tags: photos you take with Spot, and the products and prices read from them.
- Your edits: changes you make, such as categories, store names or notes.
- Usage and technical information: how many scans you've used this month; your IP address, which we keep for about an hour at sign-in to block abuse; and a security check by Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at basic browser signals to tell people from bots. Like any website host, Cloudflare also receives your IP address and basic request details (such as browser type and time) whenever you use SnapSlice, to deliver and protect the service.
We collect this information from you, when you use SnapSlice. We don't buy data about you, connect to your bank, card or store accounts, or collect your location, contacts or other content on your device.
3. Health-related purchases
Receipts can show purchases that relate to health, such as medicine, pharmacy items or personal-care products. We process this only with your explicit consent, given in the app, and only to show you your own purchases and spending. We never sell it, use it for advertising, or share it except with the service providers below. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy has more detail.
4. How we use information, and our legal bases
- To provide SnapSlice: reading and categorizing receipts and shelf tags, showing spending and insights, price-drop alerts, syncing your devices, and sending sign-in emails. This is necessary to perform our agreement with you.
- Health-related purchases: based on your explicit consent.
- Security and fair use: preventing abuse, enforcing usage limits, and fixing problems. This is our legitimate interest in keeping SnapSlice safe and available.
- Legal compliance: when the law requires it.
We send only emails needed to use the service, like sign-in codes. We won't send marketing email without your permission. AI reads your receipts and suggests categories. It doesn't make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Who we share information with
We share personal data only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit them to providing their services to us:
- Cloudflare, Inc. for hosting, database and photo storage, and bot protection.
- Anthropic, PBC for reading receipt and shelf-tag photos and suggesting categories with the Claude AI. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn't train its models on this data.
- Resend for delivering sign-in emails. It receives only your email address and the email's content.
We may also disclose information if required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights, safety or property of SnapSlice, our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of SnapSlice. In a sale, the buyer must honor this policy for data already collected.
We do not sell personal data, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first, ask for your consent where the law requires it, and never include health-related purchase data without your explicit consent. We honor Global Privacy Control browser signals as an opt-out of any such sale or sharing.
6. How long we keep information
- Account, receipts, photos and edits: until you delete them, or until you delete your account.
- Deleted receipts: removed right away. A small marker with no receipt content remains, so your other devices know to remove it too.
- Sign-in codes and links: 10 minutes. Sign-in sessions: up to 30 days. IP addresses we keep for abuse prevention: about 1 hour. Usage counts: about 2 months. Cloudflare keeps its own request and security logs for a limited time under its policies.
- Backups and providers: database backups, and copies held briefly by our providers, such as Anthropic's request records and Resend's delivery logs, are deleted automatically, generally within 30 days. A provider may keep some records longer where the law requires it, or to enforce its usage policies (for example, if content is flagged as abusive).
7. Where information is processed
SnapSlice is operated from the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. When data from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland is transferred, we rely on our providers' data processing agreements, which include the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and, by our hosting provider, at rest. Sign-in codes, links and session IDs are stored only as one-way hashes, and access to data is limited. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we'll notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws such as California's and Washington's, you may have the right to:
- access your personal data and get a copy of it in a portable format;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect processing that happened before);
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data or targeted advertising (we don't do these);
- not be treated differently for exercising your rights.
Many of these you can do yourself in Settings: Download receipts & photos, Export CSV, edit any receipt, Delete all data, and Delete account. Deleting your account also withdraws your consent and removes your data from our servers. For anything else, email support@snapslice.app from the address on your account, so we can confirm it's you. You may also use an authorized agent. We'll respond within 30 days, or tell you if we need longer (up to the time the law allows). If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject line. We'll answer within the time the law allows. You can also complain to your local data protection authority or attorney general.
10. Cookies and storage on your device
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. The app stores your receipts and photos on your device so it works offline. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies or third-party trackers. Because we don't track you across websites, browser "Do Not Track" signals don't change anything.
11. Age requirement
SnapSlice is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll ask you to review and accept the new version in the app before you continue. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
